Bugs and Bunny

This is a portrait of Carolyn and her bunny, Shemp. Its a good feeling to knock out a quick painting, it helps transition into larger, more complicated compositions.
Thanks for being so beautiful Bugs!

Desk

That palette doesn't look very appetizing...
My new resolution, never have this desk empty!

Dick Tracy

I have set up my drafting table so I can simply come home and start painting. This is my first oil painting so far. I did do one other, but I'm saving to show that for when Carolyn and I send out our wedding invitations.
I was always a fan of Dick Tracy. I remember when the movie came out in the early 90's and I was enamored as a kid to get as much Dick Tracy stuff as possible. The original comic is very charming, relying on the silliness and vulgar appearances of the gangsters in contrast to Dick Tracy's level headed, handsome, and intelligent persona.
Not too far from where I'm at, over in Woodstock, is a Chester Gould Museum dedicated to Dick Tracy. I'm excited to go see it, especially if they have any original material, like drawings.
Here is my rendition of Dick, only represented as if he was on a Pulp Magazine cover.
This painting isn't completely finished, only a few details remain.

MAKE A WISH WEBSITE

Here is the story about the mural.

Thanks again to everyone that helped along the way.

When They Come True

The mural is finished, the furniture is all set up, and the floor has been installed. Little Mattea loves her new room. This story will be on the Make a Wish Foundation website: wish.org.
This was a lot of fun, I wouldn't hesitate to paint another mural. Thanks to the people that helped me out with supplies, especially Cindy.
I can't wait to see what the Next Big Thing will be!

Ship Ahoy!

Painting the mural is coming to a close. The next big area to paint is the sail. There will be a ribbon behind the girls, sewn to the sail. The sail, now, has it's first coat. It looks rough, so I'll have to clean it up during my next visit. I'm loving how this has all turned out. The foam flooring is now installed and soon the furniture will arrive. The whole room is being converted into a massive play room for the girls.

Details... Details...

The mural is almost done, the next big step is to include the girls.

Make a Wish

A lot of progress has been made on the mural since I last posted. The pictures here don't show just how far along it really is. It's coming together great and the family absolutely loves it. I need to make cartoon characters of the girls to go in the boat and I still need more animals to populate the beach. It'll be completed in the next few weeks!
